This past weekend saw some unusual weather, with tornadoes, damaging winds, thunderstorms and a few hail events documented throughout the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic region.
In addition to numerous high wind reports, six tornadoes were confirmed in Pennsylvania, along with one in Dorchester County, Maryland.

There were only five hail reports for July 18, 2026 listed on the NOAA website, none of which occurred in Maryland or Pennsylvania. However, it did, in fact, hail in other areas.
As I've mentioned many times throughout this blog, storm reporting can never be all-inclusive. Even the most sophisticated storm maps can get things wrong. Many hail events simply go unreported.
I personally received a report of hail in Frederick, Maryland, during the afternoon of Saturday, July 18, 2026. A friend even sent me a photo of a hailstone from that storm.

Though not listed on the NOAA website, there were still online reports of the hail storm, including Facebook updates from local meteorologists. The storm was reported specifically for Ballenger Creek, a subdivision of Frederick. As you can see below, it was originally reported incorrectly as "Blender Creek."

Hail of this size (close to 1-inch or greater in diameter) https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1663092455182555&set=a.277368303754984can damage exterior metal components on a home, including aluminum flashing, trim capping, gutters, and aluminum siding. JP Construction completed several roof and siding replacement projects in Frederick following a severe and well-documented hailstorm in 2018. This July 2026 storm was much less documented, but if your home was in its direct path, any damage it sustained is no less real.

It is important to have your home inspected for exterior storm damage after an event like this. Damage is not always easy to spot and may only be visible under certain lighting conditions, so it's best to have a professional perform a thorough inspection. An experienced exterior storm damage contractor should be able to identify any damage, show you exactly what was found, and explain your repair or insurance options.

That's exactly what we do at JP Construction—and what we've been doing for over 21 years. If you live in Frederick, MD, have aluminum siding, and your home was in the path of the hail storm that occurred on July 18, 2026, contact us today to schedule your free hail damage inspection.
